Biography
Dr. Benjamin Eldon Stevens (Ph.D. University of Chicago, B.A. Reed College) works on ancient stories in modern science fiction, fantasy, and horror (literature and film); classical Latin literature; and cultural histories of the senses. He has co-edited four volumes of essays on classical receptions in science fiction and fantasy, a monograph on Silence in Catullus (Wisconsin 2013), and numerous articles; he is also a published translator of French and Spanish. A professional educator for two decades, Dr. Stevens has taught at schools including Bard College, Bryn Mawr College, Hollins University, the University of Colorado at Boulder, and Trinity University. Outside of academia, he enjoys learning new languages (currently Icelandic) and baking.
