Biography
Dr. Sandip Mukherji is a Professor of Finance in the School of Business at Howard University. He serves as the academic director of the HPS Center for Financial Excellence and the faculty advisor for the CFA Institute’s University Affiliation Program, organizes annual Wall Street on Campus financial strategy education seminars, and conducts Trading Challenges for School of Business students each semester. He has 12 years of banking experience, having worked in middle-management positions in a large commercial bank and in the central bank of India. He has been awarded a Morgan Stanley Foundation Research Fellowship and worked on three-month summer projects at Goldman Sachs (twice), Bank of New York (twice), and Coopers & Lybrand, besides working as a consultant for Goldman Sachs. He has also participated in a 3-day finance workshop at Wharton and Merrill Lynch, and a 4-day executive education program on valuation at Harvard University. As a finance faculty at Howard University since 1992, Dr. Mukherji has presented 37 research papers at national and international conferences, and published 60 research papers on investments, corporate finance, and education, in 27 refereed journals, including several publications in Financial Analysts Journal, Journal of Corporate Finance, Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, and Financial Review. His research papers have been cited in top journals, such as Journal of Financial Economics and Journal of Finance, as well as in popular magazines: Forbes and Smart Money. He has won a Quality Research Award from Global Finance Journal, an award for Excellence in Scholarly Research from the School of Business, and an award for Exceptional Classroom Instruction from the Graduate School of Business. He delivered keynote speeches at the 2008 International Business and Management Research Conference in Hawaii and the 2023 American Society of Business and Behavioral Sciences Conference in Las Vegas. He was honored with Howard University’s President’s Medal of Achievement in 2023. Dr. Mukherji has a B.A. in Economics (Honors) from University of Delhi, an M.A. in Comparative Literature (Gold Medal) from Jadavpur University, and M.B.A. and Ph. D. in Finance from University of Cincinnati. He has been a CFA charterholder since 1999.
