Biography

Dr. Michael Ogbolu is an Associate Professor of Management at Howard University School of Business in Washington D.C., where he teaches Entrepreneurship, Small Business Management, New Venture Development, Seminar in Management, and Management and Organizational Behavior.  His main research interest is in African American entrepreneurship with a specific focus on consumer perceptions and behavior.  Dr. Ogbolu’s research paper titled “Researching Black Entrepreneurship: Exploring the Challenge of Response Bias” won the prestigious John Jack Best Paper Award at the United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) Conference in 2013. In addition, he won the Best Research Publication in Journal Award from the Journal of Academy of Business and Economics in 2015.Dr. Ogbolu has published several papers in academic journals including the Journal of Developmental Entrepreneurship, the Journal of the Academy of Business and Economics, the European Journal of Business Research, and the AT Review.  He has also presented his research at several national and international academic conferences including the Academy of Management, the Eastern Academy of Management, MBAA International North American Management Society, The North American Case Research Association, and International Academy of Business and Economics, USASBE and the State of Maryland General assembly.  Additionally, Dr. Ogbolu was a recipient of the 2011-2012 Research Grant from the Office of the Provost at Howard University.As an entrepreneur and faculty, he uses his practical expertise to bridge the gap between academic business theory and actual business practice.  Dr. Ogbolu, a serial entrepreneur for over 20 years, is the founder/CEO of a full-service clinical Laboratories, an international, an ethnic grocery store, and a non-profit social justice organization dedicated to reducing infant mortality and healthcare disparities locally and internationally.  Dr. Ogbolu has also dedicated his time in the past to teaching entrepreneurship to homeless men in the Baltimore area through another international non-profit organization. Dr. Ogbolu received an MBA from the University of Baltimore and a Ph.D. from Morgan State University.  Dr. Ogbolu lives in Columbia, Maryland with his wife and children.
