Biography

Mrs. Celia Williams-Fowlkes is the Director of Admissions  for the College of Medicine.  Mrs. Williams-Fowlkes graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from William Smith College in Geneva, NY and a Masters of Education in Educational Administration and Policy from Howard University in Washington, DC.

 

Mrs. Williams-Fowlkes is well versed in the importance of establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships, with faculty, students, parents, staff, alumni, and other college/university personnel.  The amalgamation of her professional experience and knowledge in admissions, recruitment, facilitating entry programs, data tracking, student retention, organizational leadership, financial aid and accreditation is an asset to the College of Pharmacy, as is her background working with an ethnically diverse student body.

 

Prior to her higher education administrative experience, Mrs. Williams-Fowlkes spent a few years as a Social Worker, serving as a Preventative/Foster Care Caseworker with the Urban League of Rochester, NY, Inc.  Mrs. Williams-Fowlkes has since spent seventeen plus years with the College of Pharmacy at Howard University. Throughout her career at Howard University, she has held a variety of administrative and leadership positions at Howard University including:  Academic Coordinator for the Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) Grant, Program Counselor for the Center of Excellence (COE) Program (COE) Grant, and Recruitment and Records Officer for the College of Pharmacy Office of Student Affairs.  Mrs. Williams-Fowlkes left Howard in Spring 2009 to serve as the Founding Director for Student Affairs in the new School of Pharmacy at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.  In January 2012, she returned to the Mecca to assume the position of Program Manager for the Center of Excellence (COE) and later began serving in dual roles as the Director of Admissions and Recruitment for the College of Pharmacy and the Program Manager of the COE/COE-NIH Endowment Administrator to bridge the gap between the COE, COE-NIH Endowment and the Office of Student Affairs. In October 2017, Ms. Williams-Fowlkes transitioned to the College of Medicine at Howard University as the Director of Admissions.

 

Mrs. Williams-Fowlkes has provided and facilitated workshops on Time Management, Study Skills, Excel, Interviewing, Mentoring, Professionalism, Pipeline programs, and Admissions.
