2014
Wai Lim Ku serves as an Assistant Professor at the College of Medicine, Howard University. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Maryland, where he investigated the collective behavior in chaotic dynamical systems and network science. During his doctoral studies, he developed an interest in the role of epigenetic factors in regulating the collective behavior of cells.
Following his graduation, Wai Lim joined the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) as a postdoctoral fellow, where he focused on the epigenetic regulation of immune cells. During his postdoctoral training, he and his colleagues pioneered one of the first experimental techniques for profiling histone modifications at the single-cell level.
Presently, his laboratory is dedicated to exploring how genetic and epigenetic factors influence the emergence of cellular states and phenotypes from single cells, as well as the potential clinical implications of these processes.
