Biography

BIOGRAPHY
Tanya Penny-Woods recently assumed the role of Director of the Center for Excellence in Supply Chain Management (CESCM) at the Howard University School of Business. Ms. Penny-Woods integrates supply chain challenges and real-world experiences into the classroom in collaboration with professors and senior-level executive leaders from various industries. She focuses on preparing students with the necessary analytical skills and strategic thinking for successful leadership roles in corporations and government entities. MS. Penny-Woods also teaches the Capstone/Integration class, using top consulting corporations to guide students through live business case problems.
Ms. Penny-Woods was previously Verizon Communications Senior Vice President of Real Estate responsible for a $2 billion budget and managed 3,000+ staff and contractors. She also served as Chief Procurement Officer, responsible for $35 billion of sourcing and planning activities. Her organization drove over $4 billion spend with diverse suppliers. Tanya has leadership experience in Corporate Finance, Financial Operations, and Telecommunications Network Planning.
Additionally, Ms. Penny-Woods enjoys using her big corporation experiences to drive growth in small and diverse suppliers via TPW Associates, incorporated. As CEO, she provides consulting services to universities, hospitals, and government organizations focusing on supply chain best practices and supplier diversity business growth.

Ms. Penny-Woods serves her community via several philanthropic organizations including The LINKS, Incorporated and Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated.  She serves on the Board of Directors for the Ivy Community Charities of Prince George's County
