Steven Nagel
Biography
Steven Nagel obtained his bachelor of sciences degree from George Washington University in 1978. He was awarded his M.D. degree from Howard University College of Medicine in 1982. He then completed a surgical oncology fellowship at Roswell Park Memorial Cancer Institute in 1991.
He currently serves on the faculty of Howard University College of Medicine as an assistant professor of surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, an active member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. His clinical interests include breast cancer, melanoma and sarcoma.
He began his military career in 1992 serving as a medical officer in the United States Navy rising to the rank of Commander.
He began his career in private practice in surgical oncology in 1991and has served on The Commission on Cancer of The American College of Surgeons, the Boards of Directors of the American Cancer Society and as medical director in clinical medical affairs relative to development, medical monitoring, drug safety, and conduct of clinical trials in oncology.
In 2014 he was appointed medical officer at the Food and Drug Administration where he currently serves in the Office of Device Evaluation, Division of Surgical Devices.
