Biography

Dr. Kweli Zukeri has worked at Howard University for 15 years, beginning as a web developer and now serving as AVP of Web Innovation & Strategy in the Office of University Communications. He led the development of a centralized, cloud-based web system that supports over 90 redesigned University sites and enables seamless content distribution across key platforms like The Dig, Howard Magazine, and the staff/faculty Profiles site.

In his current role, Dr. Kweli advances Howard’s use of emerging AI-powered web technologies, including a culturally-relevant chatbot for content managers. He is a founding member of the Presidential AI Council, guiding the University’s responsible and equitable AI adoption. He also hosted and co-produced the HU2U podcast mini-series The GenAI Revolution: Navigating the Potential & Peril for Howard University & Our Communities.

Dr. Kweli holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication from UNC Chapel Hill, and a master’s and Ph.D. in psychology from Howard. His research focused on how affirming Africana heritage and developing critical consciousness support the academic success and identity formation of Black youth.

He is co-founder of The Liberation Lab LLC, which empowers Black and other youth to become critically conscious, justice-oriented, and identity-affirming individuals. He is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
