Florence Prioleau

Biography

Florence W. Prioleau serves as senior vice president and general counsel at Howard University, a position she has held since 2014. In this capacity, she oversees the University's legal affairs and provides strategic counsel to its leadership. Prioleau also served as secretary to the Board of Trustees from 2015 to 2021. 

 

Before joining Howard University, Prioleau was a partner at Crowell & Moring LLP in Washington, D.C., from 2008 to 2014, focusing on corporate, regulatory, and public policy matters. Prior to that, she was a partner at Pillsbury Winthrop LLP from 2006 to 2008. She began her legal career at Patton Boggs LLP in 1981, where she advanced from associate to partner by 1987. 

 

Prioleau's experience extends to significant public service roles, including positions in the United States Congress as professional staff on the Committee on Ways and Means, and the White House as associate director of domestic policy. Her professional excellence has been recognized by Chambers USA, which named her a "Leading Lawyer for Business," highlighting her as one of the most outstanding lawyers in her field. 

 

Prioleau holds a Bachelor of Arts from Goucher College and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center.
