Biography

Jean Wells, a licensed CPA and attorney, is an Associate Professor in the Howard University School of Business, Department of Accounting where she teaches tax, accounting and business law courses. Ms. Wells is the supervising faculty coordinator for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. In 2007, Ms. Wells was the first Professor in Residence in KPMG’s Washington National Tax Legislative and Regulatory Services Group where she conducted tax research and tracked legislative and regulatory tax developments during a six-month residency program. In 2016, Ms. Wells appeared on the television series Criminals at Work where she detailed how the largest District of Columbia government-related embezzlement occurred. Ms. Wells has authored several articles, some of which have appeared in the Journal of Accountancy and The CPA Journal. Ms. Wells earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration (B.B.A.) Accounting from Howard University and a Juris Doctorate from George Washington University.
