Dr. Miriam C. Gyimah specializes in African Diasporic Literature and Cross-Cultural Feminist Theories. She holds a BA and an MA in English, a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature and an MFA in Creative Writing. She was a Clifford Clark Fellow at Binghamton Univ. for her doctoral studies and a Dissertation Fellow at LeMoyne College.
Dr. Gyimah formerly served as Assistant Professor of English Literature and African Studies at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and has taught as several institutions including George Mason University. She has contributed scholarly essays to literary anthologies and written multiple encyclopedia entries and creative publications. She is currently working on a book on Ama Ata Aidoo and a collection of short stories for publication.
Dr. Gyimah has taught Introduction to Literature, African American Women Writers, American Literature, World Literature, and Literary Criticism and Theory, English composition, amongst others.
She currently teaches freshman English and African American Literature here at Howard.
