A graduate of Howard University '24, Leah J. Burgess, M.Div., M.S.W. is the Admissions Recruitment and Retention Coordinator and Director of Digital Strategy and Social Media at Howard University School of Divinity, where she supports students in their journey to lead with head and heart.
Previously, Burgess was the chaplain at Takoma Academy Seventh-day Adventist High School. Leah does her work from a trauma-informed perspective and has expertise supporting survivors and victims of sexual violence while serving at the DC Rape Crisis Center, Dartmouth College, and the Connecticut Alliance to End Sexual Violence.
Leah earned her Bachelor of Arts at William Paterson University of New Jersey '00, Master of Divinity and Master of Social Work at Howard University '24 and is pursuing a Ph.D. at Christian Theological Seminary with a focus on African American Preaching and Sacred Rhetoric.
