Biography

Lawan D. Lanier-Smith is the Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards. In this position she serves as the university’s conduct officer and enforces the student code of conduct for the entire student population.  Mrs. Lanier-Smith holds a master’s degree in Social Work with an emphasis drug and alcohol recovery and families and a bachelor’s degree in psychology, both from Delaware State University. Prior to her appoint at Howard University, Mrs. Lanier-Smith previously served as the Associate Director of Judicial Affairs for 6 years at Delaware State University. In OSC Mrs. Lanier-Smith provides support to students regarding conflict resolution and interconnecting services and supports for Off-Campus Housing, Residence Life, Department of Public Safety, Academic Affairs and Student Life Activities.
