Biography

Office 217 in Academic Support Building-B (behind Locke Hall)

Dr. Julie completed undergraduate majors in Mathematics, Physics and Spanish. Her Master's degree is in Mathematics and her Ph.D. is in Educational Mathematics.

She primarily works in and researches Postsecondary Mathematics Education. Her dissertation and her continued efforts involve mathematicians' pedagogical decision-making in planning, teaching, and reflecting on their lessons. Specifically, she uses the lens of Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching (MKT) to further research on the special way that people know mathematics for teaching others. 
She also has interest in Graph Theory.

Dr. Julie's role at Howard is a lecturer, so her main focus is teaching. Nevertheless, she is always eager to discuss mathematics education with any and everyone! If you are seeking opinions, advice, or an interlocutor for anything relating to how math is taught, please come visit!
