Biography

Isabelle Kaplan teaches Russian. Before joining Howard’s World Languages and Cultures Department, she taught Russian and Soviet history and culture at Georgetown University, George Washington University, and the University of Maryland. She has lived in Russia and Azerbaijan, and traveled extensively in the region. Her current research focuses on cultural production among ethnic minorities in the Soviet era.
