Biography
Rev. Hazel M. Cherry is an accomplished storyteller, preacher, media curator, and educator, recognized for her commitment to empowering Black women and her innovative approach to spiritual leadership. With a background rooted in the rich traditions of The Black Church and 1990s Hip-Hop, Rev. Cherry has dedicated her ministry to providing safe and joyous spaces for spiritual nourishment, particularly among women and the younger generation of leaders.
Rev. Cherry hails from Oakland, CA. Her work as a media curator includes the founding of Sisters' Speak, an online talk show for Black millennial women, and the launch of Soul Chats with Ladyproclaimer & Friends, a live podcast featuring discussions with top spiritual leaders and creatives on faith and culture. As a published poet and short story writer, Rev. Cherry has been recognized with a nomination for the prestigious Pushcart Prize, and her work has been featured in various notable publications.
Rev. Cherry holds a Master's in Divinity from Howard University School of Divinity, a Master’s in Fine Arts in Creative Writing from American University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Studies with an emphasis on Pastoral Counseling from Patten University. She is the mother of a budding toddler, Micah Amal Robinson.
