Biography

Ms. D’Asia Bethea serves as the Assistant Director for Strategic Initiatives, Academic Assessment, and Communication in the Office of Academic Student Affairs in the COAS Office of the Dean. Ms. Bethea is a native of Raleigh, NC. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in diversity studies from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from North Carolina Central University. For many years and within various educational settings, Ms. Bethea has engaged in developmental work with grade school, college, and adult learners. She served as a teacher, a program coordinator for a learning community and a summer bridge program, as well as an advisor. Ms. Bethea has a passion for working with students and supporting their academic, personal, and professional success. Ms. Bethea loves to spend time with her family and friends. She is a dancer, a music lover, and a zealous educator. As a first-generation college student and graduate, Ms. Bethea is dedicated to being a mentor and a positive role model for the students she encounters. She is warm and empathetic, making the building of relationships and connections effortless. As Assistant Director in the Office of Academic Student Affairs, she is dedicated to advocating for students and providing them with the necessary resources and environment to grow and develop. She coordinates COAS major events (such as Freshmen Orientation Week, Acceptance Day, Graduation recognition ceremonies) and ASA initiatives (summits, seminars, Network of Excellence, Flagship Student Ambassador Program). Ms. Bethea works with students, advisors, and faculty to create collaborative and engaging initiatives. Her position also involves ASA assessment, surveys, and data driven reports.
