Dr. Bernard is a dynamic, solutions-oriented executive leader with over twenty-five years of clinical experience, twelve years of academic leadership, and seventeen years of government regulatory affairs professional licensure oversight. As Associate Provost of Institutional Accreditation and Assessment, Dr. Bernard oversees all aspects of accreditation and assessment for the university and is responsible for oversight of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment. She also serves as the Middle States Commission on Higher Education Accreditation Liaison Officer for the university. Prior to her current appointment, she most recently served as Interim Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Howard University where she maintains her faculty appointment. With twenty-five years as a respected and accomplished professional and academic administrator, Dr. Bernard is considered a leader in academic assessment and accreditation with a true commitment to academic excellence and servant leadership.
On the regulatory affairs side, Dr. Bernard has served three terms as Chairperson of District 2 of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP). In this capacity, she represented eight state Boards of Pharmacy and twenty- eight schools and colleges of pharmacy throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and served as a key liaison between District 2 and NABP on pertinent regulatory and pharmacy practice initiatives. In addition, Dr. Bernard was appointed by the mayor and served as the Chair and Vice Chair of the District of Columbia Board of Pharmacy for seventeen years.

As Associate Provost, Dr. Bernard oversees all aspects of accreditation and assessment for the university and is responsible for oversight of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment. Dr. Bernard has twenty-years of clinical practice experience with specialization in anticoagulation therapy management therapy and is the Founding Director of the Anticoagulation Management Service at Howard University Hospital. She has been credentialed as a Certified Anticoagulation Care Provider (C.A.C.P.) by the National Certification Board for Anticoagulation Providers and has collaborated with providers across the DC metropolitan area to serve the needs of their patients. Her research in this area has focused on hypercoagulopathy in minority populations.
