Biography

Ms. Hector is a Certified Research Administrator who has served as the Executive Director for Research Administrative Services at Howard University since 2009.  As Executive Director, she manages the daily operations of the Research Administrative Services Office and is responsible for the University’s sponsored programs activities pertaining to pre-award, post-award, close-out and contract negotiation and execution.  Ms. Hector began her tenure with Howard University in 2000 as an Accountant for restricted grants. She achieved several promotions and was named Section Chief of the Restricted Fund Accounting satellite office prior to transferring to the Office of Research Administration where she was responsible for  all pre-award functions.   Prior to joining Howard University, Ms. Hector worked for a health care management consultant firm gaining experience in writing cost proposals for federal and state government contracts as well as post award contract expenditure reconciliations.   Ms. Hector has also worked as a consultant conducting fiscal and  administrative site visit reviews of State/local funded grants and contracts.  

Ms. Hector is a graduate of Howard University where she majored in Finance.  She worked in retail banking for more than five years preceding her career change to grants and contracting administration/management.
