Dr. Feng is an Assistant Professor at Howard University in DC. Before jointing Howard, he was an Instructional Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University and a postdoctoral research associate at Purdue University. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University, M.S degree in Mechanical Engineering at University of Missouri, and bachelor degree in Machine Design, Manufacturing, and Automation at Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
Dr. Dan Feng's research areas encompass the study of vibrations and dynamics, thermomechanics, computer vision, material science, roll-to-roll manufacturing, and 3D printing. Dr. Feng is the director of the Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory (AML), which relocated to Howard University in Washington, D.C. in August 2024 and originally established as the Design, Fabrication, and Metrology Laboratory in August 2022 at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Their research focus on multi-physics research activities for different applications including advanced manufacturing, biology, structural health monitoring, and design for new manufacturing processes and devices.
