Biography

A native Washingtonian, Dr. Fryer graduated from Howard University College of Dentistry (HUCD), earning the BS and DDS degrees through the BS/DDS program.  After completion of General Practice Residency at the Washington DC Veterans Administration Medical Cenrter and earning a Master's degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, she returned to Howard University as a faculty member in the College of Dentistry.  She has served in many capacities over the years. Her affiliation with the Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Assessment (CETA) and desire to support faculty in their development as academicians lead her to pursue and complete a Master's Program in Educational Leadership and Policy.  She returned to the College and assumed a position of Liaison to CETLA, along with the appointment as Director of Faculty Development.  She is a member of the Department of Restorative Dentistry in which she serves as Course Director and Lecturer for courses, at all levels of student enrollment.  Dr. Fryer is involved in the administration of the First Year Ethics and Professionalism course and also serves as a Core Faculty member from HUCD, in the interdiciplinary Health Care Ethics course.  She currently serves as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Director of the International Dentist Program.  She holds membership in various educational, ethics, honor, and dental practice associations.
