Caron Strong, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, CDE

Dr. Caron Strong is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Howard University College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences Graduate Nursing Program. Dr. Strong is also a Family Nurse Practitioner with clinical experience in family practice. Prior to advanced practice, Dr. Strong worked as a pediatric nurse.

Dr. Strong hails from Jamaica where she received her nursing diploma and joined the only Children's Hospital on the island. She continued her nursing education at Howard University for both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees. She lived in Oregon for 10 years where she received her doctoral degree from the University of Portland, in Portland Oregon.

Dr. Strong has conducted and published research on Depression in the Primary Care Setting. Her academic interests are online teaching, using technology in the classroom, and flipped learning. Her clinical interests are in chronic disease management including diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, anxiety, and depression. She is also a Certified Diabetes Educator.
