Brea Johnson

Biography

Brea Johnson is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina. She attended North Carolina Central University and earned her B.A.  in History and M.A in public history. She did her MA Capstone project on Black sharecroppers in North Carolina.  She worked with NCAT’s Archivist James Steward on the Blacks in Agriculture and the New Farmers of America.  Brea worked with the African American heritage commission as a Researcher for the NC Greenbook Project. She also interned at Historic Stagville as an interpreter and conducted research on the sharecroppers in North Carolina. Also, she conducted oral history interviews with Black farmers in Columbus County NC, Former Black Sharecroppers, Erwin Holmes the first Black graduate of North Carolina State University, and elders from Hayti Community in Durham, NC.
