Takiyah Nur Amin, MFA; PhD ( she/her)
Biography
Takiyah Nur Amin, (MFA; PhD)is a scholar, strategist, and faculty developer whose work bridges Black performance scholarship, equity-centered institutional practice, and the enduring intellectual traditions of the African diaspora. Her research examines the cultural, historical, and philosophical dimensions of Black dance, centering movement as a repository of cultural memory, embodied knowledge, and social imagination. Her scholarship appears with Duke University Press, Routledge, Oxford University Press, and The Black Scholar, and she is a founding executive board member of the Collegium for African Diaspora Dance and past Vice President for Membership of the Dance Studies Association. A two-time Andrew W. Mellon Foundation fellow and NEH Summer Institute fellow at the W.E.B. DuBois Institute for African and African American Research at Harvard University, she brings to her consulting and faculty development practice the same intellectual rigor and equity-forward commitment that animates her scholarship. As founder and CEO of Black Girl Brilliance, LLC, she has partnered with colleges and universities nationally to advance faculty development, inclusive curriculum design, and transformative institutional change.
