Biography

Yesenia Espinal, Associate Vice President of Data Analytics, was born in the Dominican Republic and is a native of Brooklyn, New York. Her previous stops include Director of Institutional Research at Howard, data manager of talent strategy with the New York City Department of Education and work as a senior institutional research analyst at St. Joseph's University, New York. Yesenia has a strong professional background in higher education. She is passionate about data and student success and often uses data analytics to improve business processes and inform decision making. She has extensive knowledge in managing the data collection and reporting needs of an institution and is well versed in serving its stakeholders. Yesenia looks forward to managing data and supporting the University by building a robust data warehouse and a reputation for being accurate, consistent, and reliable.

AIR Nominations and Elections Committee Member 2024-2026

The Association for Institutional Research has elected Yesenia Espinal from Howard University to the AIR Nominations and Elections committee for a three-year term. Yesenia was nominated and selected for this national leadership position by her peers and colleagues. Encompassing more than 5,000 members across all sectors of higher education, AIR works at the intersection of people and data to build the individual and institutional competencies necessary to use data, information, and analytics in ways that are effective, ethical, and equitable. As a member of the Nominations and Elections Committee, Yesenia will be able to shape the future leadership and direction of the Association and its efforts to support and expand data-informed decision making.
