The profile editing system, which is accessed when you click "Edit My Profile" is designed to be self explanatory, however if anything is unclear to you, please see documentation below.  Also, if you'd like to see a fully filled out sample profile, please see the profile of Mr. "Example Profile ForDisplay".

Save Changes Across All Tabs

Save Button

After you make any changes to your profile, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save before you navigate away from the editing page.

Note: You can make changes under multiple tabs before having to click Save; however do not navigate away from the editing page before clicking Save.

Display My Profile

By default, your profile is not visible. To publish your profile . . .

  • Check the box to Display My Profile.

Basic Information

To add a photo of yourself . . .

  • Click Browse to upload a photo from your computer. The site will optimize the picture for the web and re-size it to a width of 300 pixels.

 

School/College and Department/Office

  • Select the primary School or College associated with your profile.
  • Start typing the name of your Department or Office. Then select your organization from the list.

 

Biography

Write a description about your experience, education and interests.

Please Note: Font style options are limited.

CV and Bibliography

  • CV and BibliographyIf you want to link to a curriculum vitae and/ or bibliography . . .

  • Upload PDFs from your computer.

 

Contact Information

Public Email Address and Public Phone

  • Enter your email address and/or phone number.
  • Click the Display My... checkbox(es) to publish each one.

Public Website

  • Add a web address to link to a related website.

 

Adjust Order of Items (Row Weights)

In tabs, such as Education and Expertise, you will enter information into a series of container items. There are two ways to reorder the items...

  1. Click on the Handle icon that appears to the left of an item. Drag the item to another part of the list. 
  2. Click Show row weights, in the top right corner of the page.
    • Adjust the row weights of each subject (0, 1, 2, 3, etc.) to rearrange the order in which they appear.

Education

Institution Name, Degree, Degree Type and Year

  • Enter information about when and where you went to school. Please enter each educational item in chronological order with the most recent at the top.

Expertise

Howard's Office of Communications (OUC) often gets requests from media to speak to Howard subject matter experts (SME) about various current events.

  • Indicate if you are a SME and are willing to be interviewed on a topic related to that expertise.

Academics

Course Title and Summary

Enter the Title and Summary of courses that you're teaching. How would you describe it to a prospective student?

  • Click Add another item to add another institution.
  • Click Remove to delete an institution.
  • Click Show row weights, in the top right corner of the page; then adjust the row weights of each institution to rearrange the order in which they appear.
  • Click Subject Matter Expert to indicate that you're available for media interviews.
  • Enter the Title and Summary to describe your area(s) of expertise.
  • Click Show row weights, in the top right corner of the page; then adjust the row weights of each institution to rearrange the order in which they appear.
  • Click Add another item to add another subject.
  • Click Remove to delete a subject.
  • Click Show row weights, in the top right corner of the page; then adjust the row weights of each subject to rearrange the order in which they appear.
  • Check the Graduate Student checkbox to indicate if you're enrolled in a graduate program at Howard University.
  • Click Add another item to add another subject.
  • Click Remove to delete a subject.

Research Interests

  • Check all of the Research Interests that apply to your profile. Site visitors can filter profiles by Research Interest, so they can find people with similar interests.

Research Specialty, Research Funding and Research Group Information

  • Describe your research focus, organizations that support your research and/or any information about your research group or lab.

Accomplishments

  • List your achievements with a Title and Summary.
    • Click Add another item to add another subject.
    • Click Remove to delete a subject.
    • Click Show row weights, in the top right corner of the page; then adjust the row weights of each subject to rearrange the order in which they appear.

Related Articles

  • List any articles where you've been referenced, interviewed or profiled in the media.

Image Gallery

  • Upload images from your computer to feature in a slideshow.
    • Click Browse to add a new image.
    • Click Remove to delete an image.
    • Click Show row weights, in the top right corner of the page; then adjust the row weights of each image to rearrange the order in which they appear.

Please only add media that is related to your professional and/or academic life.

Video

  • Feature a YouTube video on your profile.
    • Click Browse to add a link.
    • Paste the YouTube "Share" link.
    • Click Next.
