Yetunde Akinola, PHD

Biography

Yetunde serves as a Research Associate for WestEd. Prior to joining WestEd, Yetunde was an early childhood teacher and consultant for a home based company that she founded entitled YELA where she conducted a day to day school operation focusing on children ages 1-5, and applied evidence based practices to identify and provide curriculum that put each child on a path of long term success. Yetunde is passionate about closing the academic achievement gap and bringing light to educational disparities that exists in the Black & Brown communities.

She currently teaches Intro to Psychology where she's able to not only impart knowledge but also to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and personal growth with her students. 

Yetunde holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Master's degree & a Ph.D in Developmental Psychology from Howard University.
