Biography

Dr. Sha-Phawn Williams is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Howard University College of Pharmacy and a Board-Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with an emphasis in Chemistry, from The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Duquesne University in 2017. She completed a PGY-1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency at the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy, followed by a PGY-2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. Her postgraduate training focused on advancing community-based clinical services, improving transitions of care, and enhancing interdisciplinary approaches to managing chronic disease.

Prior to joining Howard University, Dr. Williams served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at St. John Fisher University and practiced at SUNY Upstate Medical University from 2019 to 2023, where she practiced as a Collaborative Drug Therapy Management (CDTM) pharmacist and provided comprehensive medication management in internal medicine ambulatory care clinics. She also contributed to the education and training of student pharmacists, pharmacy residents, and medical residents. Dr. Williams joined Howard University College of Pharmacy in 2023, where she serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Career Development Manager. She is actively involved in teaching, student advising, and professional development initiatives. In addition, she established a clinical pharmacy practice site at Community of Hope, a Federally Qualified Health Center in Washington, DC, where she provides patient-centered care focused on chronic disease management and health equity.

Dr. Williams’s professional interests include preventative care, health equity, and advancing pharmacy education. Her work is centered on preparing future pharmacists for clinical practice while improving access to care for underserved populations.
