Katherine Manuel, Ph.D. is a Registered Dietitian, Director of the Coordinated Program in Dietetics, and Interim Chair of the Department of Nutritional Sciences. Manuel obtained her Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences at Howard University. She holds a Graduate Certificate in Exercise Prescription from the University of Connecticut, a Master's in Nutritional Sciences from Howard University, and a Master's in Applied Exercise Science from Concordia University Chicago. In addition to her current position, she has served the Howard University Community in various other roles, including Clinical Dietitian, and more recently, Clinical Nutrition Manager at the University’s acute-care facility, Howard University Hospital. She has also held academic positions at Prince George’s Community College, the University of the District of Columbia, and the University of Connecticut. Dr. Manuel has been cited in print media and has been featured on radio and television news segments discussing various topics. She holds Certificates of Training in Adult Weight Management, and her research is focused on prevention and treatment of obesity and its complications, with an emphasis on nutrition competencies of health care professionals, and the role of exercise in individuals undergoing bariatric surgery.
