Biography

In this new role, Gordon will advance a forward-looking, enterprise approach to financial strategy—aligning financial planning with institutional priorities, strengthening long-term sustainability, and enabling revenue growth and strategic investment. These efforts will further sustain operational continuity while advancing student success, academic excellence, and research innovation. 

His appointment builds on a distinguished record of leadership and impact. Since joining the University in June 2013, Gordon has played a central role in strengthening Howard’s financial infrastructure, restoring key operational controls, and previously serving as interim CFO. His contributions include modernizing financial reporting and enhancing the transparency and quality of our audited financial statements. 

He has also been instrumental in addressing complex operational and compliance challenges while partnering with federal agencies and University leadership to strengthen internal controls and governance. Throughout his tenure, Gordon has provided steady leadership and continuity across the University’s financial operations.
