Biography

Dr. Jensara Clay is a dedicated physician, educator, and leader in the field of obstetrics and gynecology with a special focus on minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. She completed her medical school education and residency training at the University of California, San Francisco. She went on to practice general OBGYN at Johns Hopkins before completing a prestigious fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at The Cleveland Clinic, where she trained under renowned experts in the field, refining her skills in advanced laparoscopic procedures, robotics and vaginal surgery.

Dr. Clay specializes in addressing complex, benign gynecologic conditions including fibroids, endometriosis, adenomyosis, fertility preservation and more with expertise in laparoscopic, robotic and vaginal surgery techniques. Her practice is built on a foundation of delivering not only surgical excellence but also empowering her patients through education and shared decision-making. Passionate about equity and access to care, Dr. Clay provides compassionate, high-quality care to underserved populations, reflecting a career-long commitment to addressing healthcare disparities.

Currently, Dr. Clay serves as the Residency Program Director in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Howard University. In this role, she is devoted to advancing graduate medical education, fostering resident development, and promoting surgical excellence. 

Dr. Clay brings to this work a long-standing dedication to teaching. Her career in education began well before medical school. Since then, she has continued to build a distinguished track record in medical education, holding leadership roles in medical student education, contributing significantly to curriculum development, mentorship, and learner success.
