A Study Abroad Manual

A Study Abroad Manual: For Promoting Pan-African Consciousness and Action

This book offers a path to help us plan for study abroad, travel, research and teaching. It meets the needs of students, teachers, activists, travelers and Africans residing on the continent to go deeper. The authors help us explore the importance of African identity; the need for African unity to address the impact of slavery, colonialism, imperialism and white supremacy.

You will be challenged to reflect upon the themes of socialism, identity, humanism, unity, gender parity, action and so much more. The history and challenges of African people is filled with struggle, but more profoundly with strength and hope.

Il viaggio

Il viaggio: Immigrants to Italy from sub-Saharan Africa share their stories

Migration from sub-Saharan Africa to Europe is not a new phenomenon. However, according to the Pew Research Center, migration from sub-Saharan Africa has increased drastically during the past decade. Europe has witnessed an influx of nearly 1 million asylum applicants from sub-Saharan Africa (970,000) between 2010 and 2017. The dangerous journey in search of better opportunities forces young adolescents and teenagers to pass through multiple countries. The trend of asylum-seekers going through the “backway” — a colloquial term for illegal smuggling channels — has resurfaced of late. This is seen firsthand in Bologna

SAIS Europe reflects on Black History Month

Dr. Carter G. Woodson said, “If a race has no history, it has no worthwhile tradition, it becomes a negligible factor in the thought of the world, and it stands in danger of being exterminated.”
