Biography

Efosa Carroll Idemudia, M.B.A., Ph.D., is a professor of information systems and business analytics in the Howard University School of Business. He served as chair of the Department of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management from July 2023 to July 2026, leading initiatives that strengthened the department's academic programs and national reputation. During his tenure, Howard's undergraduate supply chain management program was ranked among the top 20 in North America by Gartner in 2024, while U.S. News & World Report ranked the program No. 76 nationally. Idemudia also led the faculty team that developed the department's business analytics proposal and championed a strong emphasis on student career placement and experiential learning. Before joining Howard, he was a tenured professor of business data analytics and program coordinator of business data analytics and marketing at Arkansas Tech University. He earned a doctorate in management information systems from Texas Tech University, a master's degree in computer information systems from the University of Texas at El Paso, an MBA in international business from the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration in Finland, and a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Benin in Nigeria.

Idemudia is an internationally recognized scholar whose research focuses on artificial intelligence, business analytics, cybersecurity, information systems and digital transformation. His scholarship has been published extensively in leading peer-reviewed journals, and he has secured competitive research funding throughout his career. Since 2018, he has served as associate editor of Electronic Markets, an A-ranked journal recognized by Cabell's, the Australian Business Deans Council and Scimago, with a five-year impact factor of 12.2 as of 2025. He also serves as editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Interdisciplinary Telecommunications and Networking. A Fulbright Scholar and Carnegie African Diaspora Fellow, Idemudia has held visiting appointments at institutions around the world and most recently delivered the keynote address at the 5th International Conference on Advanced Computing Technologies and Applications (ICACTA 2026) in Bareilly, India.

Throughout his career, Idemudia has demonstrated a strong commitment to student success, academic leadership and faculty governance. At Howard, his students have consistently placed among the top three in national case competitions, including serving on the team that won the $1 million grand prize in the 2025 Goldman Sachs Market Madness Competition. Prior to joining Howard, he served on the University Faculty Senate, chaired numerous university and college committees, directed the Interdisciplinary Research Center and was a member of the dean's Cabinet and Strategic Management Committee at Arkansas Tech University. His contributions to teaching, research and service have been recognized with numerous honors, including the Distinguished Professor Award and the College of Business Excellence in Research and Excellence in Service awards. Through his scholarship, teaching and leadership, Idemudia continues to advance innovation in business education while preparing the next generation of data-driven business leaders.

He participated as a member of the University System of Georgia’s Academic Advisory Committee for Computer Disciplines for five years and is a member of Strathmore Who’s Who of Professionals. Idemudia taught both graduate and undergraduate students as a visiting scholar in the Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department at Georgia State University, which the U.S. News & World Report ranked within the top ten CIS departments in the United States.

To address this limitation, we conducted a study that draws on stakeholder theory. Our research models and frameworks offer insights into how various disciplines and sectors - including healthcare, finance, education, business, retail, and law - can effectively implement a wide range of AI systems and platforms to improve decision-making and gain a competitive advantage. Our study provides insights into how various disciplines, fields, sectors, and industries should adapt to the rapid, constant changes in AI. In addition, our study has numerous implications for both research and management.

This study proposes a novel framework that combines blockchain technology with ontologies to provide a regulation-approval record showing that AI models have passed compliance auditing. The decentralized nature of blockchain ensures no authority over the trained models. Moreover, developing a concise ontology to save AI models in compliance will reduce the cost of keeping the data on the blockchain. Adherence to this framework provides a roadmap for ensuring transparency, semantic traceability, and unified standards of compliance with international ethical and legal standards.

The Conceptual Frameworks For Global Acceptance and Use of Artificial Intelligence In The Post-Pandemic Era

In 2024, the generative AI market was valued at $128 billion. To date, numerous firms, organisations,  governments, and institutions have invested millions and billions of dollars in artificial intelligence to make informed decisions and gain a competitive advantage. To provide a holistic view and insights on how companies and institutions can utilise artificial intelligence to solve complex real-world problems, make informed decisions, and gain a competitive advantage in the post-pandemic era, we conducted our study.  The theoretical background for our models and frameworks is stakeholder theory; this theory can be applied across all disciplines (i.e., all disciplines use information systems and AI to make better decisions and gain a competitive advantage). Our models and frameworks provide insights and understanding into  how firms, companies, organisations, governments, and institutions can adapt to and adopt a wide range of artificial intelligence platforms. Our frameworks identify the key variables that influence the acceptance and usage of artificial intelligence. Our study has many managerial and research implications.

Effects of perceived media richness on retail chatbot user experience

This study investigates how chatbot media richness shapes shoppers' perceptions of social presence, emotions, trust and their willingness to recommend e-retailers’ chatbots. Design/methodology/approach – Data were collected from a random sample of 460 pre-recruited online shoppers in South Africa. A structured online survey was deployed. To test the research model, ADANCO was applied to run confirmatory composite analysis using modern partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM).
