Chandelis Duster

Biography

Chandelis Duster is an award-winning journalist, public speaker, and advocate for endometriosis awareness. She is Senior Correspondent for The Emancipator, an award-winning publication that focuses on the intersection of race, politics, and social justice.
Duster has covered national and international news, spanning politics, race and equality, entertainment, space, and science, with on-air and digital reporting at CNN, as well as bylines at NBC News and MSNBC. At CNN, she reported on race and equality, breaking major political stories, including investigations into discrimination against farmers of color, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and coverage of the Supreme Court. Her work has also appeared on NPR, where her stories reached millions of listeners on Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and national newscasts.
Her journalism has earned a Salute to Excellence Award from the National Association of Black Journalists, and her advocacy for women’s health has been featured by The Today Show, CNN, and Oprah.com. In addition to her reporting, she has worked as a voiceover artist, with commercials and projects featured on national television, radio, and digital platforms.
Born and raised in Florence, Alabama, Duster holds a master’s degree in Journalism and Public Affairs from American University and a bachelor’s in broadcast journalism from Virginia Commonwealth University.
She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, SAG-AFTRA, the National Association of Black Journalists, the Washington Association of Black Journalists, and the National Press Club. Duster is also a founding member of Worldwide EndoMarch, a volunteer with the Endometriosis Foundation of America, and co-founder of Virginia HOPE, a support group for people with endometriosis.
